Many of you have not heard Brandon (the new drummer) play. His style is very aggressive and more like the drumming on the limited edition cd sampler we gave out to email list members in 2005. We have traditionally used a Tascam cassette recorder for demos but ours is currently having problems. The recorder we borrowed a few weeks ago to record our new songs was digital and lost some files and the ones that remained sounded baaaad. As you know we love our analogue recording and will stick to that for studio albums but for demos we will use what we can access
for now. Once we get the new demos recorded which will be 1 - 4 weeks we will put them up.

If you recall back in December we gave all our test subjects (email list subscribers) a free download of the album Geoparasitism with bonus tracks that largely came from the 2005 CD Sampler. We received a lot of positive feedback about those track so until we get the new demos finished we are making the original 5 song Test Subject CD Sample available for download, in its entirety, on myspace (myspace.com/TheMadScientists),

The first three tracks were recorded on a 4 track cassette recorder and sound pretty good for what they are. There's a rawness that we really like that wasn't captured on the actual album. The last two tracks are live recordings from Mable Meabody's in Denton on Fat Tuesday of 2005. This was back when The Mad Scientists were just a two piece (Brannon & Kim), so for those that got to hear them in that form this may be a bit nostalgic. Interesting side note, the drummer you hear on the "studio" tracks was in the audience that night.

Last week we took down the online laboratory (www.themadscientists.biz) to have Eye Gore (our trusted webmaster) perform surgery on it. Please, keep in mind as of tonight it has only been test in Firefox and Safari. So, if you use Internet Explorer you should consider switching to Firefox and email EyeGore (click here) with any problems you encounter using Internet Explorer on this site. Hopefully, EyeGore will have it tested and fixed for that browser this weekend. Let us know what you think of the new design. We've tried to streamline things and have a few interesting things. You can know subscribe to the RSS feed so you'll be notified immediately of any news that is added to the site (of course the really juicy info or email list finds out about first but you have to subscribe to get those tasty tidbits). There will be several additions to the site in the coming months. Later this week we will add a complete list of every show the band has played. There will also be the addition of the RatMaze with features just for the fans. The first part of the maze, Contaminations, will be up in mid-April. Contaminations will include listings of websites, radio stations, and more where you can listen to new music and keep updated on the latest explosions from the band. May will bring a new mp3 player with additional songs and the return of the Mutant Gallery (band art) complete with some flyers from The Mad Scientists earliest shows that were thought lost to the ages. In late spring/early summer GoobleGobble, the online store, will open so that you can buy shirts, cds, downloads, etc. directly from the band. Enjoy...
